A NOTE FROM DR CAPLAN

As you are aware, the last 12 months have seen huge changes within the practice.

 

Firstly, we successfully extended the building, providing two more much needed consulting rooms and an office for Debbie Beels, our Practice Manager.

 

On 31st March 2016,  we saw the departure of Drs. Blockley, Morais and Mustafa, to work in other areas of Greater Manchester.  We were confronted with the task of recruiting a new team of GP’s and clinicians to meet the challenges currently faced by the NHS and ensure that all of us at Park View Medical Centre continue to provide an excellent primary care service to our patients.

 

Dr.  Saadi Hasan joined us on 1st April 2016.  An experienced GP, he previously worked in places as far apart as Oldham and New Zealand.  We are delighted to have him with us and on 1st April 2017 he will become a partner in the practice along with  Dr. Esther Isaacson, Dr. Suzanne Arron and myself.

 

Dr. Suzanne Arron joined the practice in January 2017 and is also an experienced GP, having worked in Collyhurst for 8 years.

 

Dr. Esther Isaacson previously worked in London but has moved back to her home city of Manchester along with her husband and 3 children.

 

I am delighted that all three will become partners in the practice from 1st April.

 

Our nursing team remains a vital and integral part of the practice, very ably led by our experienced Sister Angela Boucher, well  supported by Sister Karen Stone.   A recent welcome addition has been trainee Practice Nurse Chelsea Sammon.  A fully qualified nurse, Chelsea has previously worked as a District Nurse and will train with us in those aspects of nursing care specific to General Practice.

 

We have also welcomed a hospital based pharmacist into our team who  works afternoons  and whose  input into medicines management has been invaluable.

 

Dr. Helen Bain has been with us since November 2014, working one day a week.  She is one of a group of GP’s with a special interest in emergency medicine, working four days a week in A & E at NMGH.  Sadly she is leaving us at the end of March for pastures new.  However, her colleague, Dr. Stephen Gerrard, who works four days a week at Rochdale A & E, remains with us, working one day a week, having also joined us in April 2016.

 

Dr. Qurat Malik is a long term locum whose help has been invaluable.

 

The practice could not function without our hardworking and dedicated administrative team led by Debbie Beels, our Practice Manager.  They are:-

 

Susanne Williams, senior receptionist.

Veronica Rigby and her referrals management team of Siobhan Riley and Marlene Gunder.

Michelle Charity as Prescription Supervisor along with Jodie Carroll, responsible for prescriptions management.

Mel Mcudden, Pat Gowan, Denise Pearson and Fran Mitchell.

 

Finally and most importantly, I would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to you, our patients, for your understanding during this period of change.  We recognize that it can be difficult when there are lots of new staff and your patience and support has been very much appreciated.  It has made the process so much easier.

 

Please rest assured, despite the rumors, that I have no plans to retire.

 

I look forward to the continued growth and success of Park View Medical Centre, where our aim remains to continue to provide the highest standard of medical care in a holistic manner.

Our practice has limited parking available in front of the practice. We run on one level and are accessible without the need of ramps or lifts.

Zero Tolerance Statement

Park View Medical Centre is committed to providing a safe, respectful environment for patients and staff.

We understand that illness, distress or frustration can sometimes affect how people behave. However, aggression, abuse, violence, threats or discriminatory behaviour towards patients or practice staff will not be tolerated.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Verbal abuse, swearing or offensive language

  • Threats, intimidation or harassment

  • Racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic or otherwise discriminatory comments or behaviour

  • Unreasonable or persistently disruptive behaviour

  • Stalking or unwanted contact

  • Physical violence or threatening behaviour

  • Carrying or using weapons

  • Damage to practice or NHS property

We ask everyone using our services to treat our staff and other patients with courtesy, dignity and respect.

Where unacceptable behaviour occurs, we may take appropriate action. This may include involving the police, restricting access to the practice or, in serious cases, removing a patient from the practice list.

Removal from the practice list

Removing a patient from the practice list is an exceptional measure and is normally considered only when the relationship between the patient and practice has irretrievably broken down.

In cases involving serious violence or an immediate risk to staff or others, removal may be considered without prior warning and the police may be contacted where appropriate.

In exceptional circumstances, where the behaviour of one household member creates a significant risk to staff, it may also be necessary to review the registration of other members of the household.
